The Rambler was responsible for AMC's greatest years, and the firm had a continuous decline from the 1960s onward until it merged with Chrysler in 1987. The Hurst SC/Rambler and Javelin, which were modified to compete in the Trans-Am series, were only two of the noteworthy performance vehicles produced by the business in the interim. The AMX, a short-wheelbase Javelin with two seats that would eventually become AMC's signature sports vehicle, was an attempt by AMC to capitalize on this sporting investment.
