Elfin quickly established itself as a significant player in the Australian motorsport scene, producing over 250 sports and racing cars across 27 different models during its first 25 years

Early Years and Achievements
Elfin's early success was marked by its innovative designs and engineering prowess. The company's cars won numerous championships and major titles, including two Australian Driver Championships, five Australian Sports Car Championships, and four Australian Tourist Trophies. Elfin cars also triumphed internationally, winning the Singapore Grand Prix and the Malaysian Grand Prix twice.

Evolution and Ownership Changes
After the sudden death of Garrie Cooper in 1982, the company was sold to Don Elliott, Tony Edmondson, and John Porter, who continued to provide parts and services to existing owners. In 1993, Victorian Murray Richards acquired Elfin and introduced a new generation of the Elfin Clubman. The company was later sold to Bill Hemming and Nick Kovatch in 1998, who relocated the business to Melbourne, Victoria

Collaboration with GM Holden
In the early 2000s, Elfin began a collaboration with GM Holden, which led to the development of the MS8 Streamliner and MS8 Clubman. These retro-inspired, low-slung racers were aimed at the weekend club racer and historic vehicle enthusiast market. The cars were powered by Holden's Gen III V8 engine and featured advanced racing components.

Recent Developments
Elfin Sports Cars is currently owned by Young Timers Garage (YTG), which acquired the company in May 2023 from the Walkinshaw Group. Despite changes in ownership, Elfin remains committed to producing high-performance sports cars and maintaining its legacy in the Australian motorsport industry.
