Pierce-Arrow was an American luxury automobile manufacturer based in Buffalo, New York, and operated from 1901 to 1938. Originally founded in 1865 as Heinz, Pierce, and Munschauer, the company initially produced household items like birdcages. It transitioned to automobiles in 1901 under the name George N. Pierce Company and later became Pierce-Arrow in 1908.
The brand was renowned for its high-quality craftsmanship and innovative designs. Pierce-Arrow introduced the iconic fender-mounted headlights in 1914, a patented feature that became its signature style. The company catered to an elite clientele, including U.S. presidents, royalty, and celebrities. Its vehicles were often used for state occasions, and it even produced motorcycles, bicycles, and commercial trucks alongside luxury cars.
Despite its prestige, Pierce-Arrow struggled during the Great Depression and ceased operations in 1938. Today, it remains a symbol of early automotive excellence and innovation.
